More about this scene
We are looking south-east from the Embankment. The river basks in afternoon sunshine, with swans and a hired rowing boat on the water. Immediately to the right of the inlet is the Bedford Rowing Club's clubhouse; further right, by the bridge, the Moat House 1960s tower block is mercifully out of shot. The south bank's islands (there is a back river beyond) are mostly lined by willow trees.
