More about this scene
This fine sweep of buildings enhanced South Shore, where on 9 June 1923 the South Shore open air baths opened. On the same day Blackpool Carnival Week began; this was a great success, featuring tableaux from all over the burgeoning Fylde. The following year, a Fylde girl, Lucy Morton, won the Olympic swimming race in Paris.
