More about this scene
The original building was designed by Thomas Stedman Whitwell and extensively altered in 1825 by John Buonarotti Papworth. The photograph is a valuable record of the building before the great fire of 1907. The castellated parapets, the very fine windows and the chimneys are in the Tudor Gothic style. The large circular window and veranda are a delightful addition to the original house.
