Cycling Over Kew Bridge

A Memory of Brentford.

The first thing I remember after turning left over Kew Bridge was a pub, and at the end of that pub was a jellied eel stall, My Mum and Dad used to stop there and get a pint of whelks covered in pepper and chilly vinegar, then we would walk home to Kenley road. Dad would give me the biggest Whelk out of the bag and it would last me the whole way home. Every weekend we did that after spending a few hours over at the fairground across the river Thames at Kew Bridge. We used to walk sometimes down Green dragon lane past my old school, (st.georges), I remember that school so well.

The two Pub's by Kew Bridge were The Wagon and Horse's and the Plough.
I was brenda Howard and went over the fair each Sat night. Used to walk over to the Boathouse when it shut used to go over to Boathouse to get Mum and Dad. Then we walk over Kew Bridge to the pub and gets some cockles and mussels. Dad like whelks. I would sit outside the pub with my lemonade and hunk of bread and cheese. Then we would walk home to Hearne Road. Such Happy Days
