More about this scene

In 1712 St Peter's Hospital looked after around three hundred sick and poor people. It was under the management of the Bristol Corporation for the Poor. Times were hard and the Corporation petitioned Parliament for permission to increase the rates. To support their cause they even commissioned a census.
