More about this scene

Fishermen have launched from Cadgwith's shingle cove for centuries. The boats on view here are typical of the rowing gigs used before the advent of diesel engines - sturdy and seaworthy, and often with their middle thwarts missing to leave space for the enormous seine nets that were used to encircle shoals.

A Selection of Memories from Cadgwith

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Cadgwith

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

We moved to Cadgwith in 1979, the best move of our lives, everyone was so friendly. Our two boys grew up there and had the time of their lives fishing and playing on the beach. We were sad to leave in 1987 but will never forget Cadgwith. Steve and Shiela Thornton.
