More about this scene
This view looks towards the Eagle Tower. The tower, which is considered by many to be a keep, was possibly built as a residence for Sir Otto de Grandison (1238-1328), the first justiciar of North Wales. He was a close and trusted friend of Edward I, and was also appointed constable of Caernarvon, a post he held for about four years. The fourth storey, battlements and turrets were added to the Eagle Tower in 1317. In 1620 the castle was in such a run-down state that only the Eagle Tower and the King's Tower were roofed.
