A hansom cab waits for a fare outside the entrance to Christ's College. Founded by Henry VII's mother, Margaret Beaufort (as was St John's), the impressive gateway depicts her coat of arms, with a statue of her above. In the college gardens stands a mulberry tree under which Milton is said to have written 'Lycidas'.
