More about this scene
Looking west uphill along the High Street, the jettied timber-framed cottages span an alley to the church and its lychgate. On the right the hard red brick pub, the Crown, is dated 1890 while beyond is the Feathers, a good 17th-century house, refronted in the 19th century. The timber braces in the distance, just to the right of the lorry, belong to Stonewells, a late 15th-century hall house with crosswings.
