More About The Court School Of Dancing

A Memory of Chatham.

I went to the Court with friends between 1966 and 1970.
We would meet up in the Two Brothers opposite.
I met my wife there at a Halloween Party night, October 1969.
The manager was Derek White, with his wife Jill.
As the business was expanding , Jill managed a branch adjoining the Granada Cinema, in Maidstone.
With my friends, over this period we also visited other branches at Tunbridge Wells and Welling. Happy days.

Simon, like you I went to Chatham Court for some years and then transferred to Maidstone where I also taught for some time. I also lived with Derek and Gill for some months. Regrettably I lost touch with them as indeed I did with all of the others that attended Maidstone/Chatham, I often wonder what happened to all of them, both teachers and students as it was a high point in my life to be associated with both branches.
I then taught in Gateshead Court but the cinema took over the hall shortly after I started and used it for Bingo.
Regards Terry
Hi. I happened to come across your comment regarding the Chatham Court of Dance. I know that my Mum Ann Steel attended the Court, as I have come across photographs of her winning Miss Court 1963. I don't know if you remember her? She was taught to dance by Derek and Gill.
Hi Estelle, thanks for your comment, but I didn’t meet Ann Steel.
