Had the Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway had its way, their main line would have run from Warrington to Sutton-on-Sea. They never got further west than Chesterfield where they had a station at West Bars near the Market Place, and extensive goods facilities. On this side of town the Midland operated a short goods branch to Brampton.
