Nestled in a fold of the Cotswolds, the neat village of Cornwell is one of a piece with the beautiful stone manor house just to the west, providing a unified design rare in Oxfordshire. The manor was restored in the 20th century by Clough Williams-Ellis, the celebrated architect of Portmeirion.

This is a beautiful little church, well worth the walk to get to it. My great-great-great grandfather is buried in the church yard and I went there in 2004, with my mother when she came home for what was to be her last visit. She died a short two years later from a muscle neuron disease and the wonderful memories I have of that trip and the beautiful places we visited are a blessing.
