The Fauconberg Arms was built in 1662, and carries the name and the coat of arms of Earl Fauconberg of the nearby Elizabethan Newburgh Priory. The Earl was married to Mary, the daughter of Oliver Cromwell, who is claimed to have been reburied at the priory.
