More about this scene
This photograph exudes the atmosphere of well-manicured countryside. It was taken literally weeks before the start of the building of a series of individual, sometimes rather grand villas, which were to extend from the heights of Highgate Hill to Crouch End. It remains an extraordinarily well-preserved and pleasing area to wander in on a sunny spring afternoon.
