Westfield Road/ Cornwall Road Croydon

A Memory of Croydon.

Hi all, I have moved into the block of flats that used to be the church at the end on Westfield road, Croydon. I’ve come on here to find out if anyone can educate me on the history of what happened in the area.

Myself and some of the residents who live in the building have been experiencing some weird things in our flats i.e shadows of people, sounds of children’s footsteps running in vacant flats, weird noises etc. 2 days ago I woke up to bloody footprints that looks like it was in the shape of a cow’s/sheep’s hoof or something.

Does anybody know if anyone died in the area or any deaths connected to the church or the school that it used to be?

I know there used to be a slaughterhouse nearby at the end of Cuthbert Road.

I would really appreciate any comments that you might have.

Thanks

Kimberley

I came to England in 1964 and my dad told me stories of his workplace Deeds of Croydon which I now know I spelled incorrectly. Those were the days of Enoch Powell and In 1965 we migrated to Canada where my fathers experience as a diesel mechanic created a great future for him in Canada and he did well in Mississauga, Ontario. I was looking to see if Deeds of Croydon still exist I may visit with his grandchildren.
That would have been Dees of Croydon the local Ford main dealer in South Croydon. As your father appears to have been a motor mechanic I’m sure this is where he meant! No longer there but you can see it in some of the Frith photos!
