More about this scene

Although the stream looks placid enough, it is prone to flooding: after a particularly severe inundation in 1962, the bridge was altered to ease the water flow. If you visit today, you will see no television aerials on the roofs, for Lord Clitheroe installed an underground cabled system to each house to preserve the unspoilt character of the village.
