On the right is the busy village store run by the Foxwell family, who only recently gave up the business. The village is a stopping-point on the way north or south along the coast, with just a prehistoric burial chamber and some beautiful hill walks to delay the traveller - unless you were making for the large caravan sites that emerged following the war. Parked on the road further up the street is a Mini estate, which was first sold in 1960.

Adjacent to the shop (owned then by Mr Foxwell), and between the small playground, is a narrow pathway which leads up to Penrhiw, where I lived at number 9 for many years. Went to Shrewsbury for an apprenticeship, the same as Gareth Jones but a few years earlier, then returned before moving again to my now home city of Wolverhampton.
