East Grinstead, High Street 1895

More about this scene
Here the photographer looks east along High Street, a wide market place with typical market encroachment blocking the view at the end; the building with the gable is a rebuild in 1877 of a 17th-century house. On the right is Constitutional Buildings, a dominating building in the golden local sandstone, built in 1893, now without the steps and the ground floor occupied by the Woolwich and others.
