We lived in Blaney crescent in council flats. Six families in our block were #49 Vaughns no kids #51 Catchpoles had six kids, Mickey & David of our gang #53 Groves 2 kids Steve(me) and Barbara, #55 was the Snows with Keith & Gillian, #57 was the Hoskins with Jimmy and Valerie, Jimmy was BF and my age and from his top floor balcony we used to climb onto the roof parapet for a few fags.lol. I lived in park avenue, in a block of flats in the middle between market street and Langdon crescent. There were families of every age group in the 2 blocks and you couldn't have wished for a better community growing up. Everyone got on and all the kids played together despite the differing age groups and sexes. I remember after going to Saturday morning pictures and seeing lone ranger or similar and going up ...see more
I'm not from East Ham but my Grandad served with the 141st HB which was formed in East Ham in 1915, they billeted in local schools. Any ideas of local names of schools? I think they used Clockhouse and Manor Farms, he used to mention a place called Mansfields on the Romford Rd which was also used by the 141st. Has anyone heard of it and what and where was it? Any info, however small is a massive stride for me. I'm sure there are some budding historians there that could help me
Does anyone remember Robert and Margret Holder? Robert was a firefighter and Margret was a housewife. They had two children. I was looking for Jackie(Jacqueline)their daughter who went to Plashet School and then to Barking Colledge.
