More about this scene
Eastleigh Library, built in 1936, provided a welcome addition for the people of Eastleigh. It was well stocked with books, and soon became too small for the needs of the population. When the Swan Centre was built, the library moved to occupy a site on the first floor, since when the issue of books has increased and provisions for modern technology have made it a busy place. To the right of this picture can be seen houses in Archer's Road, part of the development of Newtown in c1910.
