More about this scene
We are north of the junction with West End. This view, looking south along High Street, has greatly changed: the thatched cottages have been demolished, and modern housing has been built on the right. Beyond the left-hand cottage the Bunyan Memorial Hall was built in Arts and Crafys style in 1910, and at the far left is the bell-cote of Elstow Lower School, built in 1873. The High Street is a dead end now, cut off by modern roads.
