More about this scene
The local policeman (centre) goes on his daily beat around this peaceful village – a sight not to be seen now. The nearby River Avon attracts anglers. Augustus John, the painter, lived at Fryern Court, north of the village, from 1927 to 1961. St Mary's Church is to the south of the village, and the stained glass in the north chapel was added in the 1970s.
