Fornethy Concentration Camp
A Memory of Fornethy Residential School.
hated Fornethy residential school.The women told us it was haunted and when we were put to bed they pulled the covers over our heads and were told to stay that way until morning . I could not sleep as the wee ones were always crying for their parents . When we were going for our showers we had to all go down this great winding staircase practically naked in front of men etc . We had to wash in front of these women that tod us where to wash as there was no doors on the showers . If you turned your back on them you would be smacked and told to turn round . Then you would be punished by no tuck shop in the morning .These women were cruel .
If a child wet herself they would chant in front of them and pull them over and smack them on their bare bottoms in front of all of us . We were helpless .I tried to write a letter to tell my parents about this and the school read my letter and tore it up in front of me . I cried all night i was only 10
