Golders Green, Golders Green Road c.1960

More about this scene
The camera looks north across the Golders Green Road/North End Road crossing. The view is dominated by a very attractive shopping parade by Welch and Hollis of 1913, and beyond somewhat utilitarian premises of the 1930s looks on towards Hampstead Garden Suburb; this was said by Nikolaus Pevsner to be 'the aesthetically most satisfactory and socially most successful of all 20th-century garden suburbs'. To visit Golders Green without extending that visit to the Suburb is to deprive oneself of an exciting architectural experience.
