More about this scene
The International Stores (right) - `grocers and tea-dealers` - were a sort of early chain store. Banana Travel is there now. Next door is the four-gabled frontage of Thomas Pannell`s fishmonger`s shop. By the mid 1960s, Dunmow`s electric cables were being put underground: our photo shows what a good thing this was, aesthetically speaking.
