More about this scene
This marks the spot on Aldham Common where Rowland Taylor, Rector of Hadleigh, was burnt in 1555. His curate Richard Yeoman was burnt at Norwich in 1558. This monument to them both was erected by public subscription in 1818, to replace an earlier one which was placed within the rails. 'This is the Victory that overcometh the World, even our Faith'.
