More about this scene

This small village sits between the sea and fields of bright lavender. At Caley Mill there is a lavender water distillery, and in late summer the fields shimmer with a deep blue. The railway from Heacham to Wells was a lifeline for the export of local grain, vegetables, bricks and shellfish for metropolitan markets.

Albert Hern
My grandfather was Albert Hern. He built the houses on the cliffe - Belgrave. He lived in the end house still standing. He was well known. I lived at 10 Beach Terrace as a child (now gone ) and revisited many times.

My Father
My father, ARTHUR PERCY CRUMP, was born in 1898 in London, but orphanned in 1901. He was sent to Heacham with his older sister, EDITH. The 1911 Census shows him living with foster parents....Samuel Groom, his wife, daughter and 2 other "boarders" at 2, Garden Terrace. His sister was housemaid to a Mrs. D. Steward. He spoke of leaving school at 14 and being sent to work on a chicken farm.........he said ...see more

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
