Now called the Delamere Forest Inn, the pub sits close to what remains of the Delamere Forest. This was a medieval hunting forest, and once extended from Frodsham all the way almost to Nantwich. It was officially disafforested in 1812, when some land was reserved for what is now the Forestry Commission.

Now here's a place with some very happy memories. Beyond the field with the cows in was the BICC cricket ground (factory chimney in the background) - if you look closely the white building to the right of the picture was (and still is) the club, bar and changing rooms.
