St. David’s College
A Memory of High Wycombe.
My name is Geoffrey Gill and I was at St.Davids from 1958-1960.The headmistress were Miss Gooch (not Gouch) and Miss Ellis. Other teachers Mr.Davies,Mr.Hatt,Mr.Monaghan and Mr Whelan. Also a few mistresses Miss Collins,Miss Lacy and Mrs Frear. I was in Upper Third and then Lower Fourth. It was as many will remember a very strict school with Saturday morning detentions etc. We had rugger on the Mead and cricket and football on the Rye. There was a commercial form with Mr.Hatt in charge where the school girls learnt shorthand and typing. P.T.was undertaken by Mr.Davies. To go into a shop after school required permission from one of the headmistress also going upstairs on the bus home was banned. Always a few prefects lurking around to report you. Left in 1960 when my parents moved to South Wales. Now retired and living in Eastbourne East Sussex.
