Travelling Fish And Chip Man

A Memory of Hilton.

I lived in Hardwick, near Hilton in the late 1940's and early 50's. The travelling fish and chip man in a White Morris or Ford van used to park in the village main street. We children used to love to get our 6d (six penny)worth of chips from the back counter, wrapped in newspaper. Mum or Dad would come out with us if we were getting the evening Fish and Chips for the family. Our man used to go every Friday to Madingley, Hardwick, Bourn, Caxton, Hiton and then Dry Drayton. The photo shows a Wolseley on the left and a Triumph Mayflower car on the right...I can still feel the taste.
