I spent many happy holidays with my Auntie Doris, who lived in Shaw Lane. My dad and aunt spent many happy times in the Wheel Inn and my cousin married Jean Tuner, the daughter. My other aunt and three cousins lived at Derwent View, Milford, at the other end of Shaw Lane so we made many journeys up and down the lane. My Auntie Doris eventually moved down to Makeney Lane, Milford and lived at East View near the Derwent.
I have just found out that I was born at Holbrook Maternity Home in July 1967 and was adopted soon after. I have just gained access to my original birth certificate and would like to know more. Did anyone or know of anyone that gave birth on the 1st July that year or know of a nurse that had a baby daughter at that time. Hopeful M Merwick
Ive been told that i was Born here, my birth date is 13th September 1966, does anyone Know if there are still Files that still available Today that i can try and trace my dad?.....my Mothers maiden Name then was Margaret Wilson....maybe some One can help me!......
I was born in Holbrook in 1942 and lived there until 1973 when I married and moved to Loughborough. I continued to vist my parents and family in Holbrook weekly. Last year I moved to Oregon USA, to be near my son and his wife, but I took loads of photographs of Holbrook which I have on my PC. It was a wonderful childhood growing up in Holbrook.
