The Ferryboat Inn was a favourite haunt of fishermen; the oldest part of the inn is six hundred years old. There is a large inglenook hearth were there is always a fire. The river floods in the winter, and can rise up to the height of the walls.

I lived in Needingworth from 1977 to 1981, to get to the Ferry Boat Inn was within walking distance. We would sit on the grass near to the river and have our drinks on a warm summer day. If I remember correctly, this was one of the oldest pubs in the country and it was haunted. Meal, The pie is always nice, but the vegetables are awful (Photos enclosed) It is not the waitress’ fault - the chef serves appalling food to be eaten, so I saw your new manager (Of 5 weeks). Took him to our table and showed him the problem. Very helpful & polite. The problem is the vegetables, Cauliflower the chef is happy to serve it up looking like it has gone off.
