Hurley, The Village c.1965

More about this scene
Hurley began life as a small settlement in a clearing in the Forest of Arden, and it probably did not grow substantially until Dexter Colliery opened in 1927. By the time the colliery closed in 1968, there were already large council estates here; many more houses have been built since, though only a minimum of services appears to have been provided.
