This shows the northern slope of Capstone Hill and its junction with Ropery Meadow (centre, in front of the chapel) as it was before any development took place. Within a few years, the area by the little curving lane would be dominated by the Victoria Pavilion. In the foreground, the area later occupied by the Granville Hotel is still being farmed.
