Happy Days
A Memory of Jersey Marine.
I, Allen Rix, was born and grew up in Jersey Marine from 1933 to 1951 when I left to join the RAF. Living through World War 2 was hard for a lot of people but for us it was a gat time, even though we had to endure the bombing of Swansea. We had the sea and beach close by, the Tennant Canal to fish and walk along, three hills to climb and the golf course to follow. We were all fit as fleas and thought nothing of walking to Neath on a Sunday and catching the last bus home. Do the local youngsters do those things now? Friends I remember included Ken Fletcher, Allan Williams, Walter and Brian Jones, Bernard and Ken Gorvett and Frank Coats. Don't know if any of them are still with us. They were happy days.

My late fathers name was Bernard Gorvett, born in April 1933 in Jersey Marine. Curious to know if this is the same Benard that you grew up with?
