Lincoln City

A Memory of Lincoln.

My family were all from Lincoln, I remember my dad taking me to Hartsholme lake to go fishing and boating on the Boultham park lake.
Our family holidays were usually Sutton on sea, Dad would always go to the Bachus hotel at lunch time.
My later teens I would go out, ( in the seventies) to the pubs which a lot of are not there any more, The Grand Hotel for one, another was the wagon and horses at the end of Rookery Lane. A few more on the High Street have gone also.
I went to school at The Lincoln City School on Skellingthorpe road next to the railway line, a good distraction during a boring subject watching the diesels of the day haul freight.
I left in 1981 for a life in Australia, Thats a whole different story, I have been back a couple of times and Im sad to see these memories gone of good old Lincoln.
