More about this scene
This end of a narrow valley at the foot of a steep hill has been a popular seaside resort for many years. It also had nearby coal-pits, which transported some of their coal from the beach here. Strawberry Hill, above the village, was the site of an Iron Age fort. A boat is being beached to the right beyond the slipway and the other boats in the centre.
