This photograph of Loftus High Street shows the raised ground to the right known as the 'embankment'. This was remodelled by Sir Robert Dundas of Loftus Hall, who took a keen personal interest in restoring and developing Loftus. The bridge in the left foreground of the view leads off into Dam Street and then on into South Loftus.
