Milverton, New Housing Estate c.1955

Whilst I will be visiting Milverton before too long, I have no personal memories as yet. I have however found a letter written by my birth mother on 21st Nov 1956 her address was Milverton Somerset. Her name was Margaret Elizabeth Williams and she was a State Registered Nurse working as a live-in private nurse in the South West at that time. My Grandfather came from Milverton and lived at a cottage called Butts Way and he is buried in the churchyard with other members of his family. He was William Moore who died in 1920. His daughter, my aunt, spent her honeymoon with Joyce and Fred Andrews, and my father took us as children to visit them We were allowed to play in the skittle alley. It was great fun.

Dear Reader, My brother Alex and I spent many a happy holidays with my great uncle & aunt Jim and Curly Pile. They moved from managing the Rock Inn at Waterrow 1954- 1965 (retiring) to BarBrook House, Fore Street, Milverton in 1965 until 1988.
