More about this scene
Freebrough Hill, located on the edge of Moorsholm on the A171 Guisborough- to-Whitby moor road, is steeped in legend. Many myths have perpetuated that it is a burial mound , whilst geologists feel that it is a natural phenomena left by the Ice Age. Whichever is the correct explanation, its distinctive shape has been much loved by generations and remains an integral part of the Moorsholm area. Freebrough reputedly means 'meeting place for fairies' and has recently given its name to a new Community College.
