More about this scene

Jugs of tea are advertised on the left, and 'Walkie Photos' on the right. It is a pity that more effort was not put into saving one of Morecambe's piers in the late 1970s when they were still there; but those years were not a time when conservation or heritage featured much on the agenda. The Super Swimming Stadium had opened in 1936; as a promotion for the pool, a Miss Great Britain competition was started in Morecambe in 1945. In 1964 Marineland, Europe's first Oceanarium, opened on the old stone jetty.

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I appeared in the show along with other artistes, some of the names elude me. The show was produced by Herman and Constance Wells. I was the song and dance man! Mario Lanza was in the great Caruso at the cinema. Can anybody help identify some of the cast? There were four girl dancers. One speciality act. Elvet Hughes (tenor) and an old comedian who I believe at one time understudied Old Mother Riley. Hope you can help, Brian Martin PS - I wonder how many people remember this show ?
