More about this scene
This has all gone, and survives only in the name of a street - Brine Road. Situated in 70 acres of parkland, the hotel treated patients suffering from gout, rheumatism, sciatica, neuritis and even insomnia. Every need of the guests was catered for; this included stabling for 50 horses - and it is just possible to distinguish a mounting block beside the colonnaded entrance. Used during the Second World War as a convalescent home, it was finally demolished in 1958. The site has since been used for housing and schools.
