I lived at No.9 Pickwood Scar with my parents from 1944 and 1953. I have many fond memories of my childhood there. I still remember the majority of the residents and in many cases the houses they lived in. If there is any interest, I am happy to share those memories
Dad (John Frederick Lumb) was born there 1909, and the Hall features large in his pre-history. Ernest, Marmaduke, Frederick etc. Any contacts would be welcome. Have photos and some records, but stuggling with Fredericks parents, three lines possible, but need help ! Thanks Graham Lumb
We moved in to number 13 after we got married. Our first visitor was unfortunately a policeman with a warrant for the previous owners arrest. I'm sure we were not alone in the house. We often used to hear an over the door type bell and were later told it used to be a sweetie shop. I'm pleased to have discovered this view of Pickwood Scar - one which is impossible to get nowadays as the trees have grown up so much in the area in the foreground. A lot of the cottages in the background were demolished some years ago. I live just round the corner and walk up Dye House Lane (on the left) most days - it looks to have been much better maintained back in the 50s.  Up until 1946 it was marked as  a ...see more
