Were the stables and hounds still there when you were there ..... There were two black ponies in the field one was called Jet cant remember the other one. Was so sad when I returned to Devon to find the house demolished .......
As my parents were abroad I was placed here during school holidays for two years. Mr and Mrs Riedel. Have so many photos and memories of all the children were there also. Rosalind, Irene, Marie Elizabeth, Peter Eder, Paul and so many others. Putting our names on the swinging tree, secret rooms, dens, up on the moors and so much more. Went back about 1979 and saw that the facade had gone. I have the W from the church weather vane. Peter Harris
From 1946 until 1949 I was a boarder at Court Hall. At the time I was there Lady Poultimor lived in a cottage in the grounds and kept parrots. There were stables at the rear of the house and a full pack of hounds was kept there along with hunting horses. The school's head mistress was Mrs Barkway nicknamed Barky she had driven ambulances during the war. She had a daughter named Janet . The vicar's wife ...see more
