Norton On Tees, High Street c.1955

More about this scene
This photograph was taken at almost the same point as N69011. The High Street leads towards Stockton in the centre. The property on the left is little changed today. The tall cross in the foreground has attractive Celtic carving and lettering, and was erected in 1897 by the inhabitants of Norton to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It is unusual, therefore, that it is not a memorial cross.
