I grew up here ...happy memories , loved the lake and fun fair , surrounding countryside , would be either sat on a jetty with my feet in the water watching the boats come and go , or hiding in the dense shrubbery at the top of the hill overlooking the fun fair . This is the cottage my grandparents Mary (Molly) and Harry Winnington lived for over 70 years. I along with my sisters spent many happy times there during holidays and weekends. My memories are of living at 37 pickmere lane from 1969 age 7. My mum Beryl Owen still lives there now and I still live in Wincham. I will always remember the "bob bob bob" of the motor boats which I could here from my bedroom window. Mums and Dads house backs on to two fields and then the lake below it. So many good times had during my youth at Pickmere........ A mate of mine (who had been there previously with his Dad) invited myself and some friends to travel with him down for a days fishing on a farmers pond off Pickmere lane,on our bicycles from Salford....(only 20 miles each way!!).
