Port Sunlight, Bolton Road Bowling Green c.1965

More about this scene
Bolton Road was the first paved road laid in Port Sunlight, and W H Lever named it after his home town as a reminder of his roots. Bowls is a quintessentially English sporting activity, and it appealed to the founder of the project. The houses at the back of the green are a perfect illustration of the architectural style that has made Port Sunlight so famous.
