I remember old Folie (his real name was Skillen) at his house at The Crescent. I can remember he was fond of the company of young folk and would be free with his drink as he told their fortunes. His adopted son Tommy suffered a very sad end. Folie aka Skillen was brought-up as a Catholic but the Church took a dim view of his snake-oil selling, fortune-telling, and adherence to Aleister Crowley's teaching. ...see more

Does anyone remember FOLIE? Back in the 1950s when I lived in West Park there was a well known man, usually located at the end of the castle walk near Portnahapple, who was famous for his ability to see into the future.
