Potter Street, Pottersfield c.1960

We moved to Fullers Mead in 1953/4 just after I was born, to the house on the right hand side with the lamp post outside (just down from the bus stop) my brother was born in the house in 1955. Dad still lives there, bless him. It was a great place to grow up. Lots of friends to play with and fishing at Mill Pond right down the end of the road and the newest and best sports facilities you could want. I left in 1976 to live in Devon.

I lived at 106 Perry Spring until 1968. This photo was taken at the bottom of that street, where the steps are. Like Graham Nash I remember Potter Street as a great place to grow up in the 1960's. Shame Brays Grove school has now gone. To add insult to injury they call the new building Stewards. What did Brays Grove do to deserve that. Hello, can anyone help please? In this pic is the white house oppisite the white horse, what was next to that white house? My house is here now but I hear there was a petrol station here 60 years ago - I can't find any history or pics, can anyone help?

Having just moved to Harlow new town my only memories of Potter Street then was the transport cafe because that was the original A11 trunk road coming from London. What a lovely caff that was, I ended up being a regular there till it had to close down, shame!
