More about this scene
Preston docks were once some of the busiest in the country, handling cargoes from around the world. Behind rises the 303-foot spire of the Roman Catholic St Walburghe’s Church, which was completed in 1866 to a design by Joseph Hansom, inventor of the Hansom cab. The square tower to its left is the neighbouring Anglican church of St Mark’s.
